About
Why
Because with all the advances in technology, it seems everyone has forgotten about the ease of life it was supposed to bring. The skeleton (the technical part that people go to college for) of technology should advance at the same rate as the skin (what the user sees). People go to college to learn how to build computers. You shouldn’t have to go to college to learn how to operate one.
What
Practical Computer Help uses video recordings (primarily), called “screencasts,” to walk you through, step-by-step, some of the tasks that common users sometimes have trouble with.
How
Practical Computer Help uses an exceptional, free program called Wink to record and edit screencasts for your viewing pleasure. This program is extremely robust, advanced and easy to use - exactly what technology should be!
Who
I have tried to resist using the pronoun “we” up to this point because, well, I am one person. Practical Computer Help is something I started in an attempt to help others… and maybe earn a little extra income through Google Adsense while I’m at it :-). My family and I currently reside in China and I administer a computer lab (among other things) at a University. Most of the tutorials you will find on this website stem from questions I get from users in the computer lab and other personal computer problems.
