Some of the most common problems found in Windows can be prevented simply by changing which internet browser you use.
Internet Explorer (aka: IE) is the default internet browser that comes with Windows. For technical reasons it cannot actually be uninstalled… but you can use a different program as your default internet browser.
Enter Firefox…
Mozilla Firefox is a lot of things to a lot of people, but most importantly for you, it is much more secure than Internet Explorer. Download, install and run Firefox today and stop using Internet Explorer for your own sake!
A question I often get is “how do I know what browser I am using?” Luckily, this is easy to answer and even more easily demonstrated.
1. Open the program (browser) that you normally open to get on the internet.
2. Look in the upper left corner of the window.
If it looks like this, you are using Internet Explorer:
If it looks like this, you are using Firefox:
Basically, as long as you are not using Internet Explorer, you should be fairly safe from a large percentage of common attacks.
